Get to know me

I'm Ashika. A midlife mama to 3, and a lifelong in-betweener: born in the UK, raised in the US by Indian parents, now making a home in Barcelona. I never fully belonged to one place, which is maybe why I've always paid such close attention to people, and to the stories they carry.

I spent 15 years inside the corporate world before the ground began to shift, the way it has for so many of us, in an age of unstable careers and constant reinvention. Telling stories, writing them, filming them, became how I made sense of my own losses. The quiet erosion of identity that motherhood can bring, and the long work of becoming someone new. I want my children to see that you can remake yourself at any point in life. This is me doing exactly that.

I'm in awe of my fellow women, of what we carry, and what we're capable of. The stories I most want to tell are ours: of struggle, and of overcoming.

That's where I'm pointing my camera, and my life, next.
